Maharaj’s Divine Glance on the Children

Maharaj! What magic did you do? ‘Oh, look at this! These little kids were just playing, and by simply looking at this bawa all the children have fallen straight to the floor.’

The story goes as follows. Shriji Maharaj had arrived in Gadhpur from Karyani for the very first time. Once, Shriji Maharaj was sitting in Malekshah Fakir’s garden. Kids came to the garden to play and they noticed that there was someone sitting near their play area. But how could the kids know that this was Shriji Maharaj, Purna Purushottam Bhagwan, in person? They were mesmerized by the divinity of Maharaj’s aura, and after a few moments they all ran to him.

When the kids finally arranged themselves around Shriji Maharaj, he cast a divine glance at them. Instantly, all the children fell to the ground and entered into samadhi*. Not one child moved or made a sound. The people nearby were amazed and started whispering amongst each other: “Surely, this bawa is a magician”.

Curious, they asked Maharaj, ‘What kind of magic did you do on these children? Awaken them quickly!’

After listening to the complaints of the people, Shriji Maharaj smiled and said, ‘I have not done any magic. They have simply gone into samadhi and they are doing darshan of Purna Purushottam Bhagwan. Don’t worry, they will soon get up on their own.’

Upon hearing this people started coming to the garden, wielding their sticks and shouting angry words.

The village chief, Jiva Khachar, too came quickly on his horse. He saw the children and looked at Maharaj. His mind was immediately overcome with peace. He folded his hands and prayed, “O Maharaj! I am the chief of this village. If anything happens to these children, I will lose my reputation. So, please awaken them.’

Shriji Maharaj looked at the children and they started to stir. Once they were fully conscious, they at once ran to Shriji Maharaj and fell to his feet. The people gathered there just stared in wonder.

Maharaj told the villagers, ‘As you can see, nothing has happened to the children. At least ask the children what they experienced in samadhi?’
As everyone started asking, one child said, ‘I saw Vaikunthlok.’

Another child said, ‘I saw Kailas, the mountain.’

‘And I saw Golok, where Krishna Bhagwan played with us,’ said a third.

One after another all the children started describing their incredible experiences in samadhi. Everyone was astonished. How could these children, who have never heard about Bhagwan’s abode, describe it so well. Various questions started spurring in everyone’s mind. Nevertheless, Jiva Khachar continued looking at Shriji Maharaj’s murti with a steady gaze. He thought of Shriji Maharaj as someone divine from beyond this earth.
He bowed down to Shriji Maharaj and asked him to come to his royal court. Shriji Maharaj saw his affection and said, ‘This village of yours, the land, this river, and the trees, I like them all. This land is very holy; it is similar to Akshardham. We will live here when the time comes. At this moment we will take your leave.’

Shriji Maharaj came to Gadhpur for the first time and looked at the children. Friends! How fortunate are we that Bhagwan has gracefully looked upon us. Later, Shriji Maharaj lived in Gadhpur for 28 years and gave much bliss to the children.

(*Samadhi is a state in which the body becomes motionless, eyes close and the soul enjoys the darshan of Bhagwan and the divine abodes. Such samadhi is only achieved by only those who have accomplished ashtang-yoga or by the grace of Bhagwan.)
